certified good 2.5L on the cheap from junkyard, spend less money, keep wheeling. Reliable DDs are dangerous. Next thing you know, Jeep is in your driveway waiting on that v8 swap to magically happen.

Where would I find a "certified good 2.5L"?

The good junkyards pull them and make sure they are good etc and sell them. I would assume that is how they make money.

Make a run to a PnP. For 1100 for could buy two cherokees and have more than enough parts for a 4.o swap.

thanks jackass, i told you to go for the junkyard motor like 12 hours ago

put a shift kit and some trick shift in that expedition before you burn some bands permanently

doubt they make sure they're good. if its bad, they just give you another one that might be good. easy warranty. ive still havent uncrossed my fingers on this 5.3 in the jeep.

Its not like I didn't know what a junkyard motor was, it was in my first post. I have just never heard of a "certified" junk yard motor. Such thing might help the bank of Dad to buy into a Junk yard motor.

I am driving the Expedition home Thursday after work to have the transmission looked at, unless someone can recommend a good shop in town.

If you didn't have such a time crunch I would say cruise all the forums looking for someone swapping the 4 banger for a V8. Would be able to pick it up for next to nothing I'm sure and probably have a spare transmission/t-case thrown in the deal.

Quick check on car-parts, junkyard 2.5L going for 1000-1500. Seems a little ridiculous.

Guy wants $400, could probably get it cheaper then spend a few hundred on new bearings and be good to go.
