Crappy tires maybe but I would say that trailer was overloaded also.

1500 lb trailer and 5000-+ brawnk put it pretty close w/ 3.5k axles.
They are 6 lug axles, so it is kind of hard to say just by looking at the picture. Either way I tow the Klogger on twin 3.5k (7k) setup. Should be comprable weight. You are right at the edge of the load limit, but I agree, I don't think that was the issue.
I have a hell of a time finding decent trailer tires. The Carlisle that discount sells sucks my left nut. The ones that trailer wheel and frame in Houston sell pop when you just look at them. I am having good luck with Goodyears from Walmart. Currently I have 205 wide with a 15" rim. Next time I think I am going to step up to 215 or 225, this should increase the tire's load rating and I do not think I will rub.

I agree on the carlisle tires from discount sucking but I got some decent no name tire in colorado that I like alot
