    Tire Talk

I don't think we have a thread dedicated to tires and I thought it could be useful to have all tire talk in one centralized place.

I need new tires for my duramax. I have BFG Rugged Terrains T/As on it now and have not had the truck long enough to have any real opinion on them. I'm looking at tires under $300 each and I have come up with 4 types that I know nothing personally about. It is a street truck only and doesn't see many (if any) dirt or gravel roads. Listed from cheapest to most expensive.

    General Grabber HTS - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

Continental Cross Contact LX - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

    BFG Rugged Terrain T/A - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

    Nitto Terra Grappler - http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...=TDNINT&cs=275

The total price difference is only about $200; so price is not that great of a factor but I don't want to regret the purchase. Internet searches only get you so far b/c the internet is full of both positive and negative reviews of all 4 options.

Anyone have any experience with any of these? I'm leaning towards the first two b/c I really think the more aggressive tread of the latter is just over-kill for my application. What would you buy?

Don't forget Michelin. I got 96,000 miles out of my set of Michelin LTX A/S. I picked up a set of Michelin LTX M/S 2 to replace them. Slightly more aggressive tread and should last 70k.

edit: I see the problem, Michelin doesn't have either of those in a 20 with that load range. Yet another loss for big gay wheels.

Sell the 20's, take the ear ring out, remove the pecker from your mouth, then buy michelins...

Everyone talks bad about terra grapplers, but all of my friends have gotten over 40,000 HARD miles out of them. I also have friends that have had great success out of some of the more aggressive cooper tires.

I had Nitto's on the death-250, they did not track good and hydro-planed a lot when it rained.

Due to your 100 + yard long burnout leaving my driveway on the way to Alto, I dont think the tires are the issue here.
On the 8th day god created the Super Swamper TSL and said "go forth and kick ass"
