yeah 9 inches are cheap to build right. just a good nodular 3rd with gears, lockers and pinion support is over 1k

You're kidding, right? I'll have less than 1 k in my whole 9 inch. Most of that cost is TTB parts/ Summit wish list

    Budget 9 inch summary:
    Axle $100
    Yukon 1000 hp case $250
    Detroit $150
    Truss $120
    Weld on brake brackets $40
    Rotors $50
    Calipers (had them) Free!
    Bearings $100
    Gears $125
    Ring gear bolts $15
    Crush sleeve and shims $15
    Pinion Guard $60

    Total $925

Add $100 if decide to go with a Daytona pinion support (which I probably will)

Add $500-1000 when I go 35 spline, but when I do this I'll more than likely be putting everything in a $1500+ axle housing

Maybe I'll edit the first post and keep a running expense tab, I bet that could get interesting!

explorer stuff won't fit with out a lot of machining to the rotor and axle flange to get everything to fit.

you got a plasma make it fit. On a full float the rotors press to the back of the axle flange that would make up the difference

For some reason they are hung up on not pressing the rotor onto the back side of the flange...

Because travis doesn't want to drill a hole in the rotor to be able to get to the axle retaining nuts. The explorer rotor is 6 1/2" ID inside the hat and the 9" axle flange is just over 7" OD. The rotor he has works fine, it's just fitting the caliper brackets that's a pain in the ass.

None of the expedition rotors have a deep enough hat to go back far enough to clear the bearing race housing anbd backing plate crap.

it shouldn't have to clear it, you'd be using the exped backing plate and parking brake

There is no ****ing problem here, I don't plan on keeping this 9 inch long and did not want to spend much time on this so I called ruff stuff and it seems they have never put disc brakes on a big bearing 9 inch. Because of this it is taking a little longer than expected.
