Figured I would start a thread before I tear this thing apart and get everyone's opinion on whats best options.

Specs:
1987 YJ
4.2L with Motorcraft 2100 carb
3.07 gears
new Autometer Gauges
Peugeot BA 10-5 Transmission with no reverse

Future upgrades:
new trans
lower gears
spray in bedliner
front bumper

I want to keep this jeep simple, but i want to fix it right without going broke.

Right now i need to look at transmission options. A while back the transmission started clicking/poping while backing up. Gears 1-5 work fine. Now it has completely lost reverse and just grinds. Occasionally it will pop out of reverse when you let the clutch out, usually stays in gear, and grinds.

I am about to pull the transmission and split it open, but should i fix this trans or spend the money for an ax15? Are there any other options?
