    Axles

Starting the research stage of building modern axles. When I finally put axles in my brothers TJ I want them to be right with the times. What does it cost to build a set of 609 axles? I have hardly started looking but quick math without finding the best of the best prices is 10-15k (for a pair) really the range once factoring in shafts and full hydro and all? Scott a d Busa are probably the two main people I am really asking. Please list out who makes the best housings and shaft options and knuckles and all.

Spidertrax is probably the most popular for 9" housings.

You can run all spidertrax components and they work well together and are proven.

If you pick and chose what components you want to run their are plenty of choices for housings, centersections, knuckles ect.

You may not want to see the price on a fully build Spidertrax axles. I don't even want to know how much I have spent on axles. My axles will be close to 14g when they are done. I even cut some corners on the rear.

Don't forget to gun-drill the shafts.

If i was set on building one off axles, I like Spydertrax. But I had to work pretty hard to break stock 60 shafts in the Bronco. Chromos in a 60, in a TJ, should be fine. Maybe not bulletproof, but a whole lot easier.

You need to teach your bro how to drive a stick on the rocks. It was ugly. I've never wheeled with a manual trans, so I was not much help

Gearing makes ALL the difference. It takes a lot of work to wheel in the rocks without good gearing. My last trip to Clayton is what pushed me over the edge to get a doubler.

I talked to him about that a lot already. His instinct takes over over what I have taught him. Needs more seat time.

I would get a D60 and C14 and buy a RZR with the leftover cash... but that's just me.

Then I'd do something really crazy, like not even cutting the lip off the C14.
