    1953 m38a1

    THIS IS NOT MY JEEP
    We were asked to spread word that this jeep is for sale.

    All the information that i have is listed below

    Howdy,
    I have a 1953 M38A1 jeep that has been a project of my brother's for years and never got finished. I acquired it a few years ago for various reasons. Now I'm looking at getting rid of it. If anyone you know is interested please call me at 979-204-6267.

    How can you tell from those pictures? Looks like a M38a1 to me. It has the correct body features.

    I thought a m38a1 had the different windshield frame and flat fenders. Where is flem, he would know for sure.

    I spent 10 minutes looking on google and from what I saw, I couldn't tell the difference between a 53 M38A1 and a 54 CJ5.

    how can you tell the difference in windshields? Did all of the earlier windshields have the seam down the middle? I saw the earlier jeeps had the wipers on top rather than bottom, but i couldn't tell which this jeep had in the pics.

    they moved the wiper motor to the inside and changed the angle for 76. that makes it require a 76 top and doors too so you can run a supertop and not a tigertop

    That's an M38 you're thinking of. An M38A1 is pretty close to a CJ-5 in most details but fairly small ones.


    M38A1 production began in '52-53. CJ-5s were civilianized M38A1s and didn't come along until '54. Most of them from this era tend to be bastardized from all sorts of different eras partswise though.

    does it have a title or a drive train?, rear tires etc. i guess what big items are missing
    Red 81 CJ5, 35's, 4.10 and detroit, 4 to 1 dana 300, tbi efi, flat belly, cage, chromos and auzzie in front... sometimes runs. body damage to come
