flem's find has all the newest goodies..1991 was the last year for the 465. I think it has a back up sensor on it as well so it will light the back up lights...aren't the bearings and some other upgrades w/ that tranny? Fred, didn't you do some digging on this topic?

no, the transmission I did research on gm quit using in 1967. But it does have a reverse light switch on it.

85 and later SM465's came with hydraulic clutches (as opposed to mechanical) and 32 spline outputs (as opposed to 10). Regardless of year, they all had reverse light switches.

some have the neutral safety switch also (which is wierd for a manual...). 10 splines were typical for the 4x4 versions, 32 for the 2wd

    EDIT - Lynda's has both, it's a 10 spline

2wd 465's had 35 spline outputs regardless of year. 4x4 versions had 10 spline until 85, then 32. Everyone I have ever seen has a neutral safety switch as well.

where is said switch on said tranny?

Edit: I know of a clutch switch that won't let it start w/o the clutch being depressed, but not of one on the transmission...
