For all practical purposes, the spring perches were SOLID. I got most of it off with the torch but I didn't want to leave that heat on it for the time that it would have taken to really get it down close. I also didn't want to screw up and cut into the tube. It took about 5 - 10 minutes straight with the torch, then about 30 - 45 with the grinder. May not seem that long, but that's a lot of heat and a lot of vibrations. I FELT like an old man when I woke up Monday. I do have a REAL grinder fag, FYI it's the most powerful one that DeWalt makes in that size. The crap I have to put up with.

As for the jack stand, that was actually proping up the weight of the hood when I was putting the bars together. I just haven't taken it out. Notice that it's sitting on the alternator bracket (on the drivers side) and you can't see the top. If Rob would have been there, I wouldn't have had to rig it like that. But that's the way it goes when you're working on it by yourself. It sucks.

Next thing you know, you ass clowns are going to be complaining about how dirty my garage is.

    A LITTLE CLOCKING

Here's the clocking that Mark and I did last weekend. Hopefully I'll get the cross member finished this weekend also.

Good Sunday. Some hard decisions were made this weekend. As some of the progress can't easily be reversed.

Spring pins flipped. Ubolts installed on front and rear. Steering arms installed. Engine located and tacked in. Rear crossmember invented/fabricated/welded/bolted in/painted. Rear axle perches welded on.

    Thanks again Mark.

    wow - looks great Dave,

are you going to run the tie rod behind the axle? I don't know if all of those arms are made that way or if you ordered it like that so you could run steering behind the axle.

I don't think that's going to be much of a challenge. Hell, all of my drivetrain components aren't even in the same state!

Hey, Jackass(ic)! Where's the 'Binder love? You're supposed to be rootin' for me, not rice boy!

Seriously, the FJ is looking great. I can't imagine building it in those close quarters, kudos for y'all for doing so. How far away is the finished (for now) project?

David, let me know when you get ready to buy tubing.

The steering will run behind and the rock ram will go in the front, or at least that is what the plans were as of Sunday
