Yes, the days are counting down. Especially since I will be in Key West, Key Largo, and Miami from the 10th through the 17th. It's time for my annual fishing vacation trip.
The exhaust got installed today (Bryan Muffler). Lone Star tried to screw me so I brought it back and had it done for almost half price. The brakes got finished yesterday. I have the tubing for the antiwrap bars. I also bought lug nuts today (Dixie Tire was 5% cheaper than Discount Tire AND they had them in stock).
Weekend todo list:
- footing plates to back the cage.
- install fuel cell & run hose.
- replace HEI rotor, cap, & wires.
- install radiator.
- install tailgates.
- plug up oil pressure sending unit.
- add bib (Cruiser term).
- add cross bars to cage.
- mock up seats and harnesses.
- fab skid plate.
- antiwrap bars (optional).
- weld up front bumper - Andy, do you remember the final verdict on that?
- add fluids and fire it up!
- engine oil
- transmission gear oil
- klune - synthetic
- transfer case gear oil
- rear axle gear oil
- front axle gear oil
- power steering fluid
- power brake fluid
- antifreeze
Tomorrow I need to order:
- harnesses.
- steering shaft heim.
Cage & front end go to get powder coated on Monday. When I get home, I'll have 3 days to:
- reinstall cage & bolt up seats and harnesses.
- install steering shaft heim.
- install cooling solution.
- make floor (optional).
- drill castle nuts on steering.
- fix leak on dipstick (optional).
What's missing?
Fun! Fun! Fun!

GO MAN GO!
Your drinks the whole weekend in Mason are on me!
**EDIT** I think we were talking about using plate or angle for the bumper and taking it out to match the outboard perch gussets. I believe that we ixnayed tubing to save approach angle.

drill castle nuts? why?
powder coat cage? it's just going to get scraped by rocks. Buy some rattle cans like you did with the body.
Have fun, hope you are taking a couple extra days off to finish it.
Good luck

Powder coating gives it a really nice look, but I may need to wait until after I have a couple runs under my belt, just to make sure I don't need anything else added to it. But do I really want to waste the $12 on two cans of spray paint?

Sounds like you're getting close Dave! Finally we'll have two Cruisers to team up on all these Jeeps!

Well, things went pretty well. I didn't have any strong help out there so I didn't get the skid plate done. After getting the seats in, I had to rethink the harness mounting points. That's only an hour or two from being finished. It'll go quick once the harnesses are in.
While I was out buying fluids, I realized that I still hadn't fixed my clutch master cylinder. Knowing that I wouldn't be able to push the clutch in, I gave up on trying to start it. It does turn over though. I need to reattach the plug wires and add oil, other than that, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the last two years of rest have been good to the motor. I did a bunch of "little things" all weekend.
Between having to get it done over the weekend and not being confident in this being the final design, I painted the cage and front hoop areas. I got the diagonal braces added to the front bars. I'm going to be mounting the batteries to them. That's another couple of hours.
The throttle cable is the major missing link at this point. I need to look at Ritchey's to see how that's done. If it makes it to it's first run next weekend, then it's going with a big hole in the floor. The bumper also needs more work, another three to four hours. I think I can do one of those projects a night, maybe three in two nights. But I'll still need some help for the skid plate. Andy, are you taking off Friday?
It's still close. It could go either way at this point.

Damn, that thing is looking sexy! Yes I'm taking off Friday the 20th. If you're hinting at last minute work, just give me a time and I'm there.
Great work the past couple of weeks, amigo.
Cool!
Yeah, I'm going to be busting my butt when I get back. I'm hoping to work late Tuesday & Wednesday to get caught up. Probably work until 7 or 8, then hit the Cruiser for a couple of hours. Get out at a decent time on Thursday and work late that night. Answer some emails from home on Friday and work on finish ups. Crazy to be this close...
