    hand throttle

    i'm goin to put a hand throttle on my jeep, i need some input on where to mount the lever, i'm goin to use a lever off something like a tiller or mower, something w/ resistance both ways, should i mount it on the dash, steering column, shifter or any other place you can think of

    i would mount it on the shifter....your hands will be on the wheel and the shifter....you dont want it on the steering wheel for sure....

    my only concern there is having enough slack to shift, but having it tight enough to work

    go for the shifter, mine worked fine when it was hooked up, but that was an engine and a few carburators ago.

    some Kaiser CJ5's had a dash mounted throttle, from what I've heard they are a pain in the *** to use when you need them (on a steep hill when its hard to lean forward and use it)

    what do u think about one mounted off the steering column, like off to one side or the other? and how did u set up the shifter one?

    I personally prefer the spare brake line/vice grip technique. It proved well in a pinch at Gilmer awhile back on Andre.

    landon....the cable you would use is kind of like a bicycle break....it doesnt matter how loose the stuff in between is

    yea, i've looked up some stuff on the net, i've found some really good info, but some guy did his own and it cost him $20 and the rubicon express cost like $30, so i'll probably just buy the kit

    the kit is definately worth it, it saves you from having to drive all around town trying to find stuff to make it work, but then again didnt you try to make your own greasable bolts

    havn't tried the greasable bolts yet, but i'm contemplating it (not really), but the reason i would get the kit is for the bracket to hold both cables to the carb, otherwise i'd just go get a bike shifter and some brake cable from kevin and tyler
