    console plans

    can anyone tell me the distance between the seets of a CJ....im sure a YJ is the same length as well.


    here is my plan. the over all deminsions are 10"Wx12"Tx26"L

    kinda does now that i think about it. his has an EQ where the cup holders are. mine will have water tight lids over the radio and console part. that way i can spary out the interor and not have to worryabout getting anything "important" wet.

    What are you gonna make it out of. Metal? Wood? The only thing i dont like about the metal ones. they tend to have sharp corners and will cut you up when off roading. I have the stock plastic one it has yet to cut me up.

    i have the same plastiv one in my truck and no it wont cut me. the one i am building for the jeep is gonna be made out of metal . i will make sure that i round off the corners so that no sharp edges protrude.

    what about some sort of a pad? not sure how to do that but that would be nice.

    i got lazy and never finished mine, so mine has sharp corners. I've only scratched myself a few times.... What mike was saying about a pad...my metal one gets hot and can burn your arm

    i plan on coating it with some kind of rubberized paint. i know that it can still ge hot but it willl not be too bad

    What about upolstering another piece of metal same size as the top and pop-riveting it from the inside of the lid? OR some 1/4" mahagony ply and screwing from the back side.
