    shock re-mounts

If i were to cut off the original shock mounts on my 82 CJ-5 and re-mount them in a upside down V configuration.. I do know i need to weld in a new crossmember in front of the gas tank but... is there some angle that i would make the V to be that would be the angle of the shock as measured from the axle tub.

i dont know if you need a certain angle or not, but are you doing it cause you want longer shocks, or cause you want it to dampen it side to side as well as up and down?

If you have a wider than stock axle on the rear you can move the shocks outside the frame, thats what mine's getting

I was hoping to get a little better travel out of the back without totally removing the shocks. I have already busted off one shock so i thought why not change em up. But... i am staying with my stock axle so no angle needed then just whatever looks good or a good length bettween mounting points.
