    transmission seals? crack?

Got up this morning to do my transmission and toss it in.

I was working on it on the tailgate.

I bought the inner seal but i have no clue where it goes. So i opened up the tranny. I took off the bolts for that plate behind the torque converter. Then i pryed it out and pulled the plate away. Everything looked good except on one of the outer walls of the case, there is a hole about the size of the small side of a matchbox that i can stick my finger in. Is it supposed to be there?

Also, where does the inner seal go? It looks like a wheel bearing seal.

    Thanx.

Did you remove the torque converter? The seal is behind it around the input shaft.

The seal is ON the torque converter itself?

I see a seal-like thing around the input shaft but it looks nothing like the seal i've got. Did i get the wrong seal?

No, not on the torque converter. Around the input shaft, probably got the wrong seal. Pull that other seal out and take it to a parts store.
