Well - my dad has a craftsman - a red one about that size or so - and he not done a bit of maintenance to it in the 8-10 years he's had it. It rode in the back of his truck for over a year as well. The only problem he has had is faded paint and a rusted pet cock from not draining it. I think he put a new cord on it too - but thats his fault.

guess we'll find out if its worth a **** or not
i got a 25 gallon compressor a few months ago and its not enough, it cycles about 20 seconds into some air ratcheting, almost immediately into an impact wrench, and also with a die grinder.
I'd also go with a vertical tank, less garage floor space for more air.

$375? for a used one??? Here's a new one from sears for $389, $421 w/ tax and you pick it up at the store. I don't believe the only used once crap for some grinding? are we talking about one piece of 2 foot steel or a 700ft oil tanker.

yea, i've looked at the new one at sears, but this one comes w/ the tools mentioned
If it blows fuses in his house it blows fuses....
The question lies in the fact that he had several tools for it. It's probably stolen.
It's good you got one with cast iron pumps. The cheaper one's from sears are oil less and direct drive. The oil less one's work fine, but don't have the longevity the cast iron one's have. Cast iron one's are also about 3 times as quiet.

yea, one of my friends has the oilless direct drive type, and that thing is fawkin LOUD, my old man has one similiar to the one i got, just a different brand, and he hasn't had any problems with it so far
Just got a new ingresol rand 3 hp 2 cylinder in my shop. The sumbitch is so quiet it just aint right. And that's compared to the old 2 hp cambell hausfeld 2 cylinder. I think it was $499 and came with an air ratchet, butterfly impact, and an 80 gallon tank. Real motors are rated at continuous HP.
We have a Craftsman 6 hp, 150 psi, 30 gal oilless single stage compressor. It does everything pretty well, but it sure is loud. I don't use it nearly as often as my dad, and since it was only $250, I'll put up with it.
Yup my motor is only 1.5 HP, most people laugh when I tell them that. I laugh inside.Originally posted by eight
