    Skid Plate Thickness

What's the best thickness for a skidplate? Weight vs. Strength.
    1/4"?

The skidplate that covers my t-case is about 1/4" thick, and I've pounded that sucker a couple of times with nothing more than scratches. 5/16" would definitely work well, but might be on the heavy side.

Holy crap. I went and picked up a 48" by 48" piece of 1/4 plate. That's one heavy *** hunk of metal. I think it will be plenty. I'm NOT looking forward to having to move that jiunk around.

    Thanks for the input.
