yeah, it turns. the stock shifter is your standard H-gate. forward for low and to left for lock in either high or low. I may convert this case to part time. this is done by removing the spider gears in the diff and installing a little mini-spool.

Oh so its kinda like a Chevy NP203. They are fulltime cases and have a little differential inside for street driving but it can be locked for offroading. Several companies sell part-time kits for the 203 and the parts look like pieces of gears that you insert somewhere (I'm not familiar with the case...) in order to allow 2wd opperation. No one makes that kinda kit for limies?

The answer to all my problems! These just came out this week and they are gearing up for production...ashcroft quit making the bolt on box years ago b/c of supllier problems w/ the sun gears in the box. now they sell the box and drop in gears (helical cut for quiet operation)
    http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co...tegory_12.html
I would go for the crawler box and keep 3.55's in the axles.
    5.95(low)*6.53(1st)*3.55(axle ratio)=137.93:1(final low ratio)
    no overdrive needed.
    w/ 3.55's, 39" tires, and a 1:1 drive ratio=~2000rpm perfect for a diesel
price: 650 uk pounds or $1100.00

Pink Panther turned into a convertible

I took the roof, doors, rear door, and seat box out today. used the lift truck to take the roof off. a couple of slings and off it came. found some intersting stuff in the back of it. a cool little built in storage box. funny old tag on the tranny tunnel. next I have to pull the rest of the body
