Yes, Doug was right, it has 4-wheel hydro's, and that FJ got second place in the trophy class with 37's.

First place went to a small CJ on 37's with a V6

It was at the Rock Garden in Aztec

I am going to build it to compete. IE: Turning brakes and a dual stick x-fer case are a MUST. We were at a complete disadvantage because everybody else could pivot around cones by locking one or two rear tires and use front wheel drive only to pivot around.

That sucked for us because we had to back up and lose points to make the same corners.

Amen to cutting brakes...although line locks work almost as well...you just need a little more juice to swing it... cutting brakes with a locker can be wierd if time is of the essence...

I thought that was Aztec... some pretty sweet slickrock huh?

That FJ is awesome...his name is Tracy Jordan and he's been doing ALOT of winning in the ARCA circuit for the last few years.

alot of write ups that i have read on cutting breaks have been used in unison with an ARB type locker in the rear. How much delay is there in the locking/unlocking process with an ARB?

None, but you have to be going straight so that the pin(s) can line up. If you're turning, then it most likely wouldn't lock up. But if it's turned off, it's not a problem anyway.

or you can run a t-case that has 2wd Low range and a front wheel drive low range... that way the locker stays off under power...

Most of the people had ARB's, but some of them just locked both of the rear tires. That's my plan, ARB's suck

Care to expound Scott? Why do ARBs suck? I'd like to know, since I have them and all. Please tell me why I got ripped? What's better and why?

And to go along with this, Ford's suck...Chevy's rule

Just locked both rear tires with a detroit, or you mean they had the line locks giving resistance so the other wheel would spin?

If they have detroits how would cutting brakes work? don't you have to lock both front and rear tires on one side and turn it like a tank tread?

no....you just lock the rear down...and gas the fron and turn the wheel....it will turn better if you had an open rearend for something like this..

EX: if you lock the left rear and shift the power only to the front, the rear detroit will essentially "free spin". This will cause the front wheels to do the pulling and create a sharp turn towards the left. Its not so simple to explain, its like driving a tractor and using the idependent brakes in the rear to steer in the mud.

i understand it, for some reason I completely forgot about the possibility of front wheel drive only. I get it now
