My machinist told me they are all the same except gaskets and fancy paint unless they are reverse rotation. He doesn't stand to make a profit off the inflated margins at a marina, I think I'll believe him. I'll use the marine cam, so it should be good. The guy dropped the price and is including a bunch of ebay fodder, It's cheap enough I'm going to do the trial and error method to see if it will work. If it doesn't, I have a good core, since that's about where it's priced at.

Got a small firepit from the parents and bought myself a rebuilt short block for my B-day. Fred, dad, and the roomie went to pick it up tonight since I had important stadium duties. (you should see me shave time at those 8th grade games) Looks tip top, and for $300 it was a Grayson level deal, I'm sure a core charge would have been at least half that. Just by eyeing everything it looks like it should work fine. The two piece rear may leak, but as Fred said, "That's why you have a bilge pump!" Now I just have to find some time to work on the POS.

Floor was rotten, gutted the *****. Jason helped with the demo work today, just have to pick up some plywood and resin now and make a floor. Wood/fiberglass sucks. It's also going to need some new seats. Fred's got the motor looking tough. Siphoned 17 gallons of awesome out of the alumimum gas tank. A boat is most definitely a hole in the water in which to dump money, but it will be like new when I get done!

Use starboard, doesn't cost much more. It's a plastic type of board. The scraps make good cutting boards too.

I looked up the starboard because I was wanting to use something like that. $450 for a 4x8' sheet is what I found. I found 22 sheets of marine plywood here in Dallas for $40 a sheet, but the dude wants to sell all 22 sheets together evidently. I'm going to try to convince him to sell me just 2-3 sheets after work. Anyone want in on a group buy. Grayson said it just needs to be waterproof/boilproof glue whatever that means. I plan on fiberglass resining the **** out of it all. Ideas?

you can probably get sheets of UHMW-pe cheaper than that from mcmaster. Honeycomb aluminium glassed over would be sweet. So would lexan, this is covering the motor, right?
