I got them from Scott a long time ago. He told me that a friend of his made them and that he had intended to use them on Lynda's CJ but they were too short (made for a CJ-5). I had to notch them with the plasma in order to fit around my cage and I welded some maltese crosses on the sides opposite of the Texas.

I got em' from a cool dude.

I remember you telling me about fastening them with some nice looking hardware like torx heads. I'm going to do that and make it look clean once I add some tube steps and paint em.

why dont you weld them to the body in the speed holes, that would look sweet with some good welds

It looks like someone already put a few welds on them.

might as well just take the windshield off now since there is no glass in it anyways, might even tow a little better

I started taking the windshield off awhile back then ended up snapping a couple of the old rusted torx heads on the hinges and just left it alone. I've had plenty of other more important odds and ends to take care of to worry about it right now. No worries as it'll be gone soon enough when the tube work begins.

I did run a couple beads around the edges of the sliders then added a couple small tacks/beads in the speedholes. I ran out of wire on saturday and was in a hurry today so I didn't have time to decide on whether or not I'll burn em' in completely or add torx bolts later. When my dad bought the mig from Bill he said it had been rebuilt a couple times. In the past you'd have to run it pretty hot to make good welds but I messed with it a little today before I did the passenger side slider. After changing out the spool and making several adjustments it's working like a champ for a little 175 even at lower amps and voltage.

they don't work well in metal, you just end up stripping out the holes

4+ years and I beg to differ
It's not like your taking them on and off all the time so they're really not going to get stripped.....if they do, weld the fookers
