actually its a 9 dollar part, and can be done much faster if you know the trick (we are talking about the inner axle seal on the front axle, right?)

    $4.44/ea at rockauto
and the last 4 knuckles I helped with I used the "camo method;" I was just being conservative on the time estimate

What do I do if the axle tore up the housing where the outer axle seals is a little bit when my profield broke?

You messed up the seat for the knuckle seal? You put a new seal in it and it won't seal up? Dunno, don't think they make a speedy sleeve for those. Housing's trashed...I'll give you 2x scrap price for it

How's this weekend for changing that seal? Should I go buy the seal first or wait until we take it apart to make sure that is the problem?
    Thanks,

you didn't use the camo method...
chadwell you should be able to just replace that seal...I doubt that messed up the seat. yank old out, press new in, reassemble
Chris that's definitely the problem. This weekend should work.

Haha, we'll see if it sucks after clayton (at which I am now notorious for killing axle parts) - I think it will be pretty damn bulletproof with all the shiny new innards.

Eric, maybe I misunderstood, but should I go buy the inner axle seal now?

I am thinking of having a workday for myself and others that need driveway space & tools at the house all day saturday if anybody is interested. I still have a ton of frozen slovacek's sausage left over from an event a couple weeks ago and would be glad to share. I'll post up in a separate thread tomorrow.
    Thanks,

If you want to do it saturday, I have 220 in the garage, though I don't know if it works. I do have 220 inside at the dryer that is by the garage, though we would need an extension cord (I have the parts & cable to make one or get that garage jack working w/ some help - Krebs?)
    Thanks,
