when i pulled the shafts out of the junkyard 9. on both sides the bearing races separated and are still in the tubes. are the bearings supposed to separate like that or are they shot?

in other news, i took the carrier of the grenaded 9 apart. it appears the lockright survived the carnage. so i guess thats a good sign to lockright owners in the club. it chewed up about 1/4" of the carrier and has hardly a scratch

If you need another nine there is a yard over here in Fort Worth off of Carson Street and 121 towards downtown. It's a sister yard to Awesome and has $30 axles and lots of trucks. I know there are a few 9", also lots of 14 bolts, 60 rears etc. It's called Dismantlers 2000 or something gay like that. It is actually on Elliot-Reader road which carson "T's" into.
i'll try to pry the races out of the housing. if they end up jacked, oh well they are spares. i'll just replace the bearings when i can do it cheap
i'll definitly check out that yard. thanks. if i could score one more 9 with 3.50s and possibly a 44 i'll be set for spares.

if you're pulling axles anywho, I could use a spare set of shafts from an 87 waggy front 44Originally Posted by RCook527

ah that would make sense. i guess they used the tapered bearing after '78.
