    jeep d30 hubs

everything is put back together right. the locker is functioning correctly. however, the hubs are popping loudly and jerking the steering back and forth, like they are engaging and disengaging. they are warn aftermarket ones about two years old. everything inside looks good. any ideas?

Mine do that sometimes and I have no clue why. But it only does it once or twice, and it's usually right after I've put it back together.

yeah, best i can guess the hubs are pushing the spring loaded plunger out and letting the splines skip. i dont know any other way to solve it except get new hubs. maybe they wont do it?

ok, its not the hubs. its the ez-locker. does anybody know what the tolerance is on the gap in the middle. i put the stock thrust washer/shims back in there but it needs either more shim or less. i dont know which.

I just glanced over it and didnt see any specific things related to your problem, but a closer look may reveal something.

thanks, but thats the no-spin, like what goes in a 14 bolt.

i need the ez locker stuff. im looking for thrust washer tolerances and center gap tolerances.

by center gap, i mean the gap in the center

the thrust washer clearances should be to factory spec I think, gap in the center I would think it's only important that it's able to smash together tight enough to unlock. Maybe take it apart and see if you have a broken pin? This is to be taken with a lot of salt, I couldn't even install mine without getting scott on the phone...

if the gap is not that wide just fill it in with some mig wire. If you can find Jordan I bet he could tig weld it!!
