On the 8th day god created the Super Swamper TSL and said "go forth and kick ass"
all cleaned up and put it back together tomarrow I bet it runs just as ****ty as it did before.
Damn 4.0l's are turning out to be a hard motor to kill no wonder they used them for almost 20 years

yeah it didn't take much water at all to bend a rod in JB's bronco I figured the engine was toast but I may have gotten lucky

well its all back together but no run. I am not getting hardly any (40psi) compression on any cylinders.
Now the whole front clip is off and I think I want to front half the frame and I can solve my spring rub, tie rod frame interference and track bar radiator interference.
The trackbar hit the radiator again and cracked the fitting at the bottom, luckily it is aluminum so I can just get it welded up.

if the compression is consistant on all 6 you should check the dots on your timing chain.

yeah I am going to do that first but I decided to pull the entire front clip off to make it easier

Out with the motor it is time to start looking for an LQ9 and a new tranny probably and auto tranny
oh and I will probably chop off the front half of the frame to sweep the grill/ radiator back a little big and get some more up travel in the front end

Sounds like you have a good plan together. Thoughts on the tranny yet? My vote is a 4L80e w/ the manual valve body if you can swing it. That's what I want to go with when we build the 4 seater buggy. (the koh/dirtymax will have to have a 6speed ally in it. )
Why bother with the expense, length and electronics of a 4L80E on a trail rig?

While I agree the LQ9 is a great engine with lots of power, what is wrong with going with a throttle body 350 with a TH 350 or 400? Seems proven and reliable. Less power, but do you need the more hp for the cost?
