When swapping from a small block with a sm465 behind it to a bigblock with the same sm465 behind it, does the clutch need to be replaced with the flywheel or can the old clutch be re-used? They have different part numbers on Rock Auto but I dont see why the old clutch cant be re-used if it isnt ****ed up.

Yes, an Acdelco kit. P/n 381969 from rockauto. I used a 90 V3500 w/ a 454 as the application to look it up. I dont know exactly what year Ed's motor is, but all the TBI blocks and cranks should be the same. Flywheel p/n 388002.

I have been searching on this the last few weeks, but haven't stumbled on anything yet. If it matters, it came out of a 91.

Thoughts on a performance aftermarket clutch and/or flywheel? The Acdelco parts I spec'd out above are on the cheaper end of things, and I dont want this **** to **** up while Ed is dragging a dump truck up a hill or something.

it had a centerforce or something along those lines in there, you can't use the same disk w/ the new flywheel

It had the centerforce dual friction which everyone told me not to get and I didn't listen. It was pretty much an on/off clutch, and with the troubles we had with the novak hydroclutch conversion it was a major pain for a while. The Centerforce 2 may be the best bet.

    From Centerforce Website

    Pressure Plate: CFT361909

    Disk: 384024

Pilot Bearing: 43001 (They may not have this one available)

    Throw Out Bearing: N1716

    It shows that it fits a '73 - '95

rumor has it that a Luk from Napa is the same as a Centerforce 1. If you need a new one I'd get one of those (you know, since I'm guessing Aisin/ASCO never made one for that application )
