    ID this tranny

    nope its not RuPaul...

its a manual transmission in my dad's 1968 chevy c50 winch truck. shifter knob says its a five speed but im doubtful of that. its got a pto for the monster winch on the drivers side and a pto cover on the passenger side. i just looked at it again in the dark and got some pics but i left my cable in cs. ill post them up when i get back. is this going to be a sm465?

just figured out that my comp takes memory cards in a slot on the side

after looking at novak's site i dont think its a 465. it may be some kinda wierd old 5 speed.

that doesnt look like your average pto box does it?

btw, thats the back of the trans you're looking at.

    figured it out

    its one of these:

    clark 280V 7.48 , 4.38 , 2.40 , 1.48 , 1
    clark 280VO 5.98 , 3.5 , 1.86 , 1 , .80
    clark 282V 6.99, 4.09, 2.17, 1.17, 1.00
    clark 285V 6.99, 4.09, 2.24, 1.46, 1.00

im pretty sure its not the 285 and crossing my fingers its the 280v. still dont know if anything will bolt behind it though.

Yea those 5 speeds were pretty common in all the old grain trucks, I'd say more than the 4 speeds. But I don't think I'd be wanting to put it in anything.
