I talked to my brother, he pulled it partially apart tonight, he said that the slip yoke was a b!tch to remove, and the main shaft sheared in half which also took out the oil pump in the tcase

Higgs tie rod did that in AZ on his LJ. We just put a bottle jack underneath it and it straightened out nicely

Odd that you could break that before the d35 you have in the back. I'd just find another one cheap and swap it in. It probably won't happen again.

i was kind of thinking that since the crawl box section was still good, was to do a doubler kit in the jeep using the front half of the existing case and finding a d300 to mate to it, and then also doing a simple mod to the trans where it uses 3 switches to manually shift the trans into any gear you wanted it to

3 separate switches - 1 for each gear? I think it would be better to have one switch...that way there's no chance of locking two gears at the same time.

there are 3 solenoids in the trans, 1 for 1st and 2nd, 1 for 3rd and 4th, and 1 to lock/unlock the torque converter

So how's this supposed to work? Put the shifter in D then energize the solenoid for the gear you want?

did it break from the driveshaft maxing out (on angle) or from torque? Look at the D-Shaft to see if the ears are bent from being at max flex. The might of tried to drop while you were on the gas...

put a 1" engine lift on to fix the driveshaft if that might be a contributor

I'd just do the torques converter lock one. Can you select first gear with the shifter?

As for the doubler and d300, I thought you didn't want to build this thing too much. You'll have close to a grand into the doubler and plenty of time by the time you get everything done. If you want to spend some time and money on it build those axles you have and put a muffler on.

I think someone said St. John might have a rear 44 with 4.56 gears in it laying around.
