    shop talk

since the closest we've been to actual shop talk lately is bathroom tile, i thought id add a little.

replaced my O'Reilly's $9.99 voltmeter with a new one from Sears. it was on sale for $22 and i had a giftcard. by far the nicest ive ever owned. it does everything i should need and more. temperature to 500F and frequency are two bonuses ill probably never actually need.

i also built a myself a new welding table. its a sheet of 3/16" mill plate, 40' of 2"x2"x1/4" angle, and about 25' of 1"x1"x3/16" angle. i have yet to put the plywood in the lower shelf.

if anyone sees a good deal on a nice heavy vice let me know.

frequency might be useful for diagnosing vss and abs sensors. maybe distributors. poor mans o-scope.

I've been using my handheld dvom's basically as test lights. If its an important value I drag out the bench unit.

thats exactly why i picked it over the more expensive auto ranging one. the other one didnt have freq. i might have a use for trouble shooting VSS in the near future, but i dont own a distributor and dont care to mess with abs stuff.

That welding table looks like it has already suffered the fate of any horizontal waist high surface in a shop......all sorts of **** gets piled on it.
