The springs in the front are 40 inches long, 3 spring pack. they are the factory rear springs(minus the overload spring), but cleaned up and shot with EZ-Slide graphite paint. I will be putting slightly longer shackles in the front, but I will wait until I get the rear suspension done first.

Made the front bumper out of 1/4 2x4( I thinks weighs more than the whole frame, cuz its like 1/8). 1/4 drop bracket(2x4 cut in half) and tube to match bushing size. I used rocky road perches, Which was a complete waste of money!!! I should on just made my own.

I might be needing some wheel spacers, does anyone have any on hand for 5 on 5.5??

Hey Sharp!! have you found anything out about the carb swap from your buddies???

I still have to figure out what I am going to do about the steering....

    Options:

    drop pitman arm $97
    Z-link $150
or just fab up some ****. $.08

They say that the The Z-link is the best, but I I could fab up the same thing for alot less, considering that it is a trail rig only.

here is a pic of thier Zlink

If the drop pitman arm will make it clear that'd be the best way. Keeps the steering in line for better driving. But then it couldn't drive fast enough to drive bad anyway.

A drop pitman arm should clear. i just figured that would put more torque on the box and frame mount. and this frame is boxed, but really thin.

Most Sami owners just fab up a copy of that Z-link. It isn't that hard, just be sure to put some bracing on it like the one in the picture.

I don't hang out with many sami owners, but in scout circles bent drag links (z-links) will do more bending when put under stress even with the bracing.
    Boats and hoes

With a dollar-fifty for a bottle of wine,
I know just what I'm lookin for
    Thunderbird will do just fine.

I happen to personally know of four different Sami's that have homemade z-links, and none have had problems... Scouts weigh a tad bit more than a Samurai...

Yes but are the same people that did this really the best example to follow?

    It worked, didn't it?

Besides, Paul isn't the only Sami owner I know, and they all have the same steering setup.

Chris scotti's steering is alot different than Jess's. The problem is that it is hitting the leafs, scotti's rig dont have leafs. I am going to go look at a few places today to see what I can find to make it out of..
