    Battery chargers

Well since my old shatty battery charger finaly took a dump I decided its time for a new one. I deffinately want a trickle charger with an engine start feature so that prety much means a wheeled cart version. What are some good brands for these things? Here's a few that I found just browsin the net and my likes/dislikes for them.

This one looks ok, and its a decent price but I've never heard of Schumacher.

This one is prety pimp and even has a little air compressor too. It has 50 more starting amps than the other two also. It is the most expensive but I am liking it the best.

This one looks more or less the same as the Schumacher, but its more expensive.

Don't you need a special charger to avoid damaging Dry Cell (i.e. Optima) batteries?

I impulse bought a schumacher like that one at O'reilly's and called it Father's Day or some bull****. It works like a champ, no waiting for it to kick on and off like the little ones. I think we had a schumacher before that was older than me. They are all made in China/Japan anyway, I figure 10 to 1 blah blah blah. Buying it from O'reilly's got me a warranty for a year or two. I want to say it was $120ish there.

If I understand right, it only has to be capable of trickle charge (1-2 amps). This is how we resurect the old army ones they throw away.

I like this one, but the air compressor may be a little excessive. What self respectin mechanic would get a balla charger like this and not have a good aircompressor in his shop anyways. Might be good for the shadetree mechanic though, and no need for a big compressor if you are not needing to run tools and such.

i wouldn't bother with the one that has the compressor. its probably dinky and would only be good for filling tires. buy the charger that charges only.

You don't have anything better to spend your money on than a battery charger? What's the matter with a good set of jumper cables? That charger is just one more thing to move when Davido evicts your ass.

just my $.02, hope that helps

I'll check out the lincoln ones, thanks for the tip. The main reason I'm liking the more expensive one is the 50 extra starting amps. With how much both Danny and I have been cranking our **** tryin to get it started we'll probably be using that feature alot.

Eric, I have plenty of other stuff to spend money on but this is something I tell myself I need and I plan on having it forever so I'm not gonna cheap out on it.
