Well I got everything cleaned up and ground clean. Started welding on the backing piece to the bottom half. Got two sides done and ran out of wire. The spool said oct of 2002 on it! I should weld more. Anyways that happened at 9:09 right after home depot closed. I'll start early tommorow morning again.

they do...you acid etch it first and then poor in some epoxy and roll it around in there...it is suppose to work failry well...probably easier than what dougs doing. that's a lot of work for a gas tank!

chirst you're telling me... I have the por stuff left over from the motorcycle. I just smeared it all in the bottom half, as I wire wheeled the whole thing. Waiting for it to dry before install the baffle and the weld the top half on.

Edit: Also I'm not sure how that crap would work with the baffle. I'm not sure it would get under it. The baffle is plastic and I'm not sure it would stick to it, but it would get all over it and probably wind up in clumps inside of it.

Got it all welded up and then pressure tested it. Not sure how much pressure I had in it, but I didn't feel like rigging up a pressure gauge. I had a total of six leaks. All of those were tiny cracks from when the weld cooled and contracted the metal around it. All of those spots where where I did a larger weld and obviously got to hot.

Also modified the sending unit to be shorter. Tank height is now 7 inches.

We had an Iraqi dumptruck driver check his tank with a lighter a while back, he lucked out and only lost some hair and eyebrows along with a few nasty burns to his hands and forehead. Put a couple good bulges in the tank too. That was the same job a dozer operator told one of the Iraqis a golf ball was "good eatin" when he asked what it was. Guess he thought it was a jawbreaker or somethin.
