So I converted the warn 9000i to a regular 9000, replaced the burned up warn motor with a db electric replacement, threw out the warn solenoids and replaced them with an albright contactor, and now I've got to do something about the control. I can't find the warn control plug anywhere except for warn, and I really don't want the cable draped over the hood all the time. I can't find a dash mounted rocker switch that doesn't look like ****, this is the third best option. Its kind of chinesey, so it might not last, but its cheap.

Instead of using the plug on the winch, can you wire it into the contactor box? It's not like you will take the winch off much, then you can also have the plug in the front if you want to use it while you are out of the cab.

Like Tommy showed those switches are pretty good, I picked up a momentary double pole at radio shack and made a little plate with indicator lights, it is on page 226 of my thread.

Also, any power window switch can be made to work like a winch switch.

Karl there is no plug on the front with the 9000. I could take the socket off the 9000i case (that is missing the dust cap) and mount it somewhere outside , but I think the wireless will be good enough. If it breaks in some kind of winch requried for survival scenario I can start ripping speaker wire out and build a switch out of a coconut.

That reminds me, I have your dust cap, This year at Clayton during the 8-point spring debacle we had to use your winch, the retainer strap was already broken, I removed it to plug your controller in, and put it in my pocket, it has been floating around in my truck with the intention to return it to you some day. Next time a Dallas feg is in Houston I will try to remember to send it home.

Side note, can you use an old school 4 prong plug? those are just 4 pin circle trailer plugs that you can get at Vatozone

I could. I think I'll just hide the warn plug somewhere behind the grill

Do you know if superwinch controls are wired the same as warn? This is cheaper than buying the replacement socket from warn, and I'd end up with a spare control

maybe, I need to start tearing the axles apart. I got the correct seals for rovers with oil bath hubs and need to swap out the stock ones.

I gave in to the dash mounted control, though the wireless works fine.
