    9 inch tech

I am considering swaping to a 9 inch because of my busted 44 pinion and I had some questions

Definetly going spool. I don't like the detriot that much and I use twin sticks to drag the rear around when needed.

4.56 gears. I like the crawl ratio that ive got with the dual cases

    35 spline shafts

now for what brand of gears. I have always heard good things about richmond gears and I saw that mark williams sells them with a 35 spline pinion. That should be alot stronger than the stock 28 spline pinion.

not sure what to do about the center section. nodular iron is what I was thinking.

Oh and where to get good 35 spline shafts

Strange makes some good low pinion cases, I went with the nogdular iron.

I would then sugest moser shafts and spool, probly run about 600-800 dollars for the kit.

I've allways had real good luck with richmond gears.

look in to bracing the axle and a new pinion suport to if your completly rebuilding it.

edit- not for sure how strong your wanting to go but with a spool 40 spline axles are a option too.

If your going to run 35 0r 40 spline shafts you will have to have a big bearing housing. I would look into high pinion housing, I wish I would have got one when I built mine.

edit- instead housing i should of said third member.

if you're getting a new housing, they make ones that bolt into your rear suspension

the currie high pinions aren't 9inches, they use 8.8in gears. The only real high pinion 9in are truehi9's and they're $$$$$$.

Just get a strange/moser case, daytona pinion, richmond gears, full spool and 35spl of your choice.

I'm running a stock case, full spool and yukon 35's and have never had a problem. I dont think I've ever even heard of someone breaking the 35spline axels in a 9in

Creighton i would go with 40 spline and never worry about it again. Not many people out there break a dana 44 with 33's. Also like everyone said get the nodular case. Im sure you have seen shaved and trussed nine inches out there here is one a guy on fullsize is building.

There is no need to go with 40 spline shafts. 35 splines is more then enough for your jeep, hell we ran those in mustangs with 500+hp and never had a problem. Chromo 35 splines, big bearing nodular case and a daytona pinion support should be the ticket and you will NEVER have to worry about breaking it.

True, but then you can only ever get a spool and the bearings will wear out faster than a 35spline. And where the hell are you gonna get a 40spline shaft for the same price as a 35spline? I paid a little less than $400 for shafts, bearings, and new retainers to my door.
