I agree. I'm not sure how close drag racing and offroad assemblies relate but I've been around alot of Mark Williams, Moser/Strange, and Currie setups and haven't seen/had any problems.

This is just what I've heard but supposedly Yukon's products aren't that great.

I run yukon 31 splines and have yet to have a problem, but they are the cheaper less stong axles.

My buddy had that hot rod ford pick-up with 700 horses on 40s than 47s and never had a problem until he ran out of gear oil and burned up a bearing one day.

    he had moser 35 spline

All I want is a spool, and this jeep will not be driven very much on the street.

Oh mark williams has them listed at the same price

Yukon's are a "budget" gear. Nothing wrong with them. They are good for the price.

I've put a lot of Richmonds in 9s and I like them. They always seem to set up easily. Haven't had any come back that I heard of, and most of them were in stock-cars.

    hmm, that could be nice.

Also does anybody know anything about these 35 spline pinions

These gears look pretty sweet, bearings would probably wear out quicker but it would only be uses off-road

here are the 40 spline shafts

BTW i want to build an axle that i will never have to upgrade and hopefully never break. i don't mind replacing bearings every now and then but with as little as I drive the jeep on the street I don't see it being a problem

yeah, but I just looked it up and it is about the same as what I was wanting to do, and I can still go 40 spline

    just get a truck housing

I don't think there are steel 3rd members that you can do 40 spline on. You'd be stuck with aluminum. The 3.250 3rd members are pretty cheap.

seen about three of them break in comps - and they complained ALOT about the quality of the gears. Basically - it took about three sets of gears before they got an acceptable runout. This was coming from Scott at Rockstomper...

get a built third member from someone with the bigger pinion. I would run 35 spline shafts because you loose strength in the carrier (spool or detroit) with the 40 spline stuff.
I have only seen a few 35 spline chrmo shafts break, but many more third members break. Hell - Troy has broken three of those things with really good parts! US gear, nodular AL case with thru bolts etc... Basically - you will break the R&P or case before you break the shaft.
