Guys that have cages in their rigs... How close is the overhead tube to your head? Specifically, the diagonal bar that goes from the front corner of the A pillar to the middle of the B hoop. Is it directly overhead or slightly in front of your head?

I dont have one of those in the lonestar, but the horizontals runing front to rear are way too low for me, my head bangs side to side on the bars and it sucks. I think a midget built my cage in it. I would give yourself plenty of room, as you only got one noodle to scramble.
yes, the LSSD's cage is way too short. my head would rattle around like a bean in a can between those spreaders. ive got plenty of room between head and every bar except one running diagonally. i havent put them in yet because i was waiting until i got the seats mounted.
My idea would be that if it looks too close, it's probably too close. I would not want to take any chances on playing pinball with my head. Probably should get your seats mounted first so you can be sure.

I think you need at least 4 inches about your head so that if you roll it over you won't hit your head and you shouldn't be able to hit your head even if you try.
put a kink in the diagonal bars like I did and it solve the issues

I still think it's too close though which is another reason why I'm changing it. My dad even commented on how cramped it feels. I like some of the setups I've seen where the overhead bars have bends right before the B pillar to allow more clearance. Not sure if anyone has seen the YJ on the cover of Crawl April 07 issue but mine will be close to it.
so it looks good from a profile view and doesnt bulge a soft top too much.Originally Posted by AggieTJ2007
