    Rear 44 Brakes?

Brian Ritchey is looking for drums for his rear Dana 44 but he's not sure what the axle came out of and it didnt come w/ drums. Anything we had listed in the Ho'Reillys computer wasnt the right size, all too big. He's looking for 10"x2" drums. We tried various years of all the following: Scouts, CJs, Wagoneers, J-Series but couldnt think of anything else that came w/ a rear 44. Any suggestions for what else came w/ it, or even better, what he could find these rotors on??? Let me know or you can call him @ 979.693.8242

sounds like his 44 came off of whatever my 44 did.

those brake parts are non existant!!! MAYBE that guy down the street, Brent Mullins will have them, but he'll probably charge an amr and a leg.

Thats why I started the kustom disc brake swap on that axle.

the flange is different than a scout or model 20 so you cant just put different backing plates on it.

Some isuzu rodeos came with D44s. Most were disc braked, but I think some of the early ones came with drums.

Oh yeah, some jeep comanche (MJ) came with a rear D44. What is the bolt pattern, and what is the width (guess if you have to).

I agree with LostIt, it seems like that was about the width of a Rodeo, so check on that

Hmm, the 5 lug eliminates the rodeo. I wonder if any of the isuzu pickups came with a D44? It probally wouldn't be from a 4x4, but maybe a 2 wheel drive?

Definitely check on the MJ. I know they are 5 lug, but I don't remember if its 5x4.5 or 5x5.5.

Well, I finally took the time to sign up for the forums. Just thought I'd put an update up about the rear brakes. I ended up getting drums and shoes from a '78 CJ7. These are 10" brake drums, though I don't know what axles these CJs came with. But they work great, had to turn my proportioning valve way down because the back brakes were locking up.
