    we flame hardened them and then quenched them in a special mix of Keystone Light and 30 weight.

    I have access to heat treating furnaces if he doesn't think the flame hardening worked.

    I think flem's design was more the problem than the heat treating, but it seems like we were trying some thicker stuff I can't remember.

    .125 was the thinnest we did, and that was on the larger one

    doug they are 304 SS and after we did the the heat treating I read up on it and I think I saw 304 doesn't respond well to it. Any ideas?

    any reason you used SS instead of a tool steel?

    it was free

    same reason my pinion spacer on the rover is inconel 600

    if i program the code and drill two little holes will it be easy as sticking it in the machine and hitting start?

    yup, but radii have to be accurate to .xxxxx else the machine will crash
