    welding question

can you mig weld with just co2? if so, has anyone done it? pros/cons? if not: i have a 50 or 75lbs(cant remember) bottle of it, is it possible to trade that for argon/co2 mix at one of the welding/gas shops in town?
    thanks

yeah you can weld with CO2, it is going to burn a little hotter and you will get some more spatter but it works well. Also CO2 is alot cheaper about half of the price and it will last for about 5 times longer than argon/co2 mix.

Another plus is that you can get a high pressure regulator for the bottle and use it as onboard air. It works great for airing up tires

i had an old man neighbor in my undergrad days that wouldnt use either b/c gas was too much trouble and fluxcore was too expensive. luckily, he didnt weld much. i never could convince him you needed one or the other, he thought they were optional, just to make the weld prettier.

If you have someplace to weld indoors, switch it over to gas, you'll like it better. If you're outside or any place windy, the shield gas will get blown away and it will look like cacapoopie (technical term)
    Boats and hoes

Stumble in to the liquor store
With a dollar-fifty for a bottle of wine,
I know just what I'm lookin for
    Thunderbird will do just fine.

I disagree, all you need is a good wind block (i.e. fat ass or tarp )
