    The Barn Burner

Decided to finally start a buildup thread. The "CheapJeep" is no more, now dubbed, "The Barn Burner". The definition is, "one that arouses much interest or excitement," but I also found it fitting since it's being built in a barn/shop. My job changing tires has helped fund my build, but luckily my dad is supportive and has become involved in the project wrenching, designing panel/tubing ideas, electrical, etc. Needless to say my original plan became altered.

I have a few teaser pics from the beginning of the summer. Holding off on posting more until I get a few more things wrapped up.

    Short recap.

    The beginning through different stages.

Yep, taillights are 39 Ford's. My dad came up with some sweet 3/16" corner panel ideas with the taillights recessed/frenched in. I stripped the paint back to the original color and found a couple areas along the rockers that had previously been bondo'd and cracked. I redid some of the bodywork just to learn but it's all getting covered by the new panels.

The pics with it all different colors was before I stripped the green off the BTF stuff and cut out parts of the cage. The B pillar, seat mounts, and door bars are all staying the same. The rear X, overhead bars, and yes the flat A pillar came out. With my dad onboard for the build and many projects of his own we decided to get a tube bender.

I went with light blue (actually Chrysler blue) and silver for the paint scheme. When I first got the jeep it had a dark blue maaco paint job but the original light blue which I liked was showing through in places. Might sound wierd but once I ditched the grave digger paint job it was calming. I guess it's because my favorite color was always blue.

a guy i had a class with built one of those with a electric over pneumatic over hydraulic bottle jack. he made the die and follower and all. it was pretty nifty. only problem is it will only do 90 degrees. which sucks when you get ready to do shock hoops or a grill hoop.
