Had planned on just buying a new tailgate since it used to look like swiss cheese, looks a ton better.

If you haven't caught on this is the same shop that builds the dragsters and who built the first cage as some of you may remember. So now for the things I'm skeptical about but will just have to test out.

As I mentioned earlier I had planned on a y pipe to single muffler setup kept tucked up. Well things changed. Ended up being a dual 2 3/4" to flowmaster 40's exiting under the driver and passenger floorpans. With such a tight frame rail width the exhaust had to be routed under the frame behind the front shackles. That's not an issue however as I'm pretty sure I now have the stoutest behemoth of rocksliders/boatsides/skidplate ever which covers the exhaust and stak.

The pics I'm posting are not the finished product. There are a few other plates still being added that angle upwards to cover the downtubes and help in sliding over rocks. Overall the skidplate will only hang a few inches below the frame rail, most of the whole piece is boatsides. I'm extremely happy with the work they have done as it's always top notch. I'm looking forward to testing it all out. If I run into any issues I can always go back and change it.

Sweet! What color is it? Gray? Silver? Glad you got rid of the blue and silver. Trying to make that look good was a losing battle.

Well actually it is still blue and silver, bright blue to be exact. Cage, bumpers, grill hoop are silver, body gets the bright blue.

I came up with the idea of this color scheme from the chevelle. I really like the light blue and decided to paint the jeep the same. We're planning on painting the nova in a matching scheme to make our family race team look the part.

Here's a pic I snapped of the paint about to be mixed.

    Thanks guys.

Picked it up this morning and it looks awesome. There are a few spots that need to be touched up but it will get taken care of in the next couple of days when they come out to our shop to mount the skidplate and bedline the inside.

I'll post some pics tonight when I get back to CS, gotta get back to electrical.

Made progress on the electrical. Dad was still going at it when I had to leave for CS to study.

I really like how the paint turned out. As I mentioned earlier a couple of the guys will be coming out to install the skidplate and make touchups to the paint sometime this week.

I told dad I wanted the chassis/axles painted blue as well. It came out looking great but I'm going to paint certain suspension, axle, and steering parts silver to match the cage and bumpers. The sliders/skidplate are getting painted silver as well. That will help to accent areas and break up the blue undercarriage which seems a little overwhelming on the eyes right now.

The plan is for dad to continue working on electrical and have it done by wednesday. I will get back to thrashing on it after class on tuesday. Hopefully fire it up on thursday.

    Pics...

Picking it up, Bill and myself.

    At home.

    Posing with the Barn Burner

Electrical... Dad made the panel housing the relay and fuse boxes. He built a frame up under the dash with arms that allow the panel to swing out for access.

    The man hard at work.

    Looks badass man.

That color is actually reeeally close to the color I decided I'm painting my gladiator. A '70s era AMC color called Big Bad Blue.

Had to wait on remounting the fuel cell and trans tunnel cover until the inside of the tub gets bedlined. In the meantime I worked on punching the harness holes in the firewall and mounting the killswitch.

You can see one of the harness slots on the right.
