River city and Ashley are both scrap yards, sell the same stuff for new so you can just price check them, they're a block apart. Ashley wins for ugliest women. Report today that both places were loaded on high quality scrap. For new stuff I usually get the best prices at PMI, but I might get special prices there.

I worked on this thing most all weekend. I drilled something like 165 3/8's holes! I used PT 2x8x16 and 2x8x8s. Crammed them all together as tight as I could to allow them to shrink up some. Since 16 footers are never perfectly straight, I would just ratchet strap them straight and drill them in.

I cut the bar across the back and we welded in new tabs for them to mount to. Also wired up the center taillight LED and license plate light.

I would like to do away with the long metal straps that hold the ramps in place. IMO, just a dumb design. I want to build something that will lock the ramps in place when up, so they do not slide around.

Other than that, I plan to wire up 2 of the China lights for work lighting. I also need to rewire the brake away. Pretty much done with it after that.

Scales at the scrapyard today say that the truck and empty trailer weigh 12080. How do you think that divides up?

The title says the trailer weighs 3200. But no weigh (intended)the truck is 8680 (8880-me) right ?

My crewcab weighs 8k "empty" but I carry a lot of **** in the toolbox. Still, 8600 for your truck isn't unreasonable.

My Ram 2500 is 8200 empty, so that seems about right.
