D30 hub nut
I'm trying to get the hub assembly off one of the D30s I got. I figured out what size socket I need, but all I can do is turn the shafts and carrier. What do ya'll think I should use to steady the shaft? The only thing David and I could think of was a big ass pry bar going one way and a breaker bar with a cheater pipe on the socket. Should this cause any problems or does anyone know a better way to get the damned thing off?

is it a newer model one? like a tj?

Put it in 4 wheel drive when you park it to keep the shafts from spinning. This may only work with a locker though. I never did have any problems getting those off.

take a screw driver and a hammer and just start tapping...did I mention it helps if it's a BFH? I had to do this to Steve's because we couldn't get the hub wrench to fit.

Doug the parts on Brett's 30 are nothing like the ones on a CJ 30.
Do you have an impact wrench? if not, I say go for the prybar in the carrier and use a cheater bar. Thats how I tigthen pinion nuts.

your pretty much goin to have to use an impact, me and chadnutz broke 3 1/2" breaker bars and 1 1/2" rachet tryin to get the ones off my dodge, i just took the whole thing out and brought it to someone's place that had an impact and it still took a while

best advice from Landon...it's sitting on jackstands, so it's kind of hard to put anything in 4-lo
I guess I'll be testing out Sear's tool warranty this weekend
