Ah, you know me well. If we can twist it back and weld it, I'm all for it. Saves me having to do any real work to it. I'll need some new springs also, but I can run these until then.

The trip was great. I had an awesome time. It was kind of Ft. Hood-esque to me. Lots of odd and end obstacles all over. Short trails. Lots of land. It would be really interesting to see wet.

Only thing I didn't like about the place was the short trails. I talked to them about that Sunday morning and they mentioned combining a few, since they've got ~44 now.

    Pics comming later.

I don't see a real problem with it, it just means you drive a little further and hit more trails. It also makes it easier to get a broken rig off of the trail and let more people by. I hate when you get stuck on a long trail with a large group of people and some breakage, because it can take most of the day and you don't get to see alot. With a place like this, you can break a larger group up into smaller groups at the bottom of a hill, each taking a trail according to what they're capable of, and then they can all meet back together at the top of the hill and go on to the next set of trails.

    Hurry up with the pics

so I pulled the Patrols rearend apart tonight - it was my welded spider gear that broke, just like last time. Just that it was the passenger side and not the driver side.

I'm going to put a 4cyl carrier in this time because it can be welded up differently and shouldn't mess with the heat treating of the spider gears as much. This will kind of be an experiment

    No detroit?

I'm looking at picking up a v6 3rd with a detroit in it that I don't want if you're interested.

is it the welded area that is failing or the gear?

I support this experiment, if you can make a 4 cyl 3rd last then I'll be tempted to do the rovota conversion.

its the gear that is failing in the Heat Efected Zone. The gear has the teeth on the outer portion of it then goes inside the carrier with the splines. It splits at the necked down portion where the gear necks down to the splines
