anybody have suggestions on what callipers to use on the D60. The ones we are getting have a funky mounting position for the brakeline, seems it will interfere with the kingpins.

Factory calipers? There shouldnt be any interference with anything.

After some research, I think that part of the problem is that we are trying to fit the 10 bolt brake lines on there, and the rotors are 1.5"s thick and I need to figure out what brake pads to use. I am going out to the barn in a minute to see if the green 60 has the calipers and pads on it. If not, they are in the shed somewhere and I may just use some old pads till I figure it all out.

Wait a f'ing minute. The brakelines from the 10 bolt WILL bolt to the D60. They might have different sized banjo bolts but I dont remember, I'm prety sure they do though. Why should you be having any problem finding the right pads? You're confusing the **** out of me here.

when I put the pads in the calipers and try to put them on the rotor, the space between the pads is approximately 1/4" to small. I think we will be able to make the brake lines work, it will just take some grinding on the little tabs to get it done. I never made it to look at the pads for the other 60, so going to do that in a minute, i will report back as soon as I do.

Are you sure the piston in the caliper is compressed completely? I had no troubles with brakelines when swapping from the 10 bolt to the 60.

I found the calipers from the other 60, and looks like it is going to work. I think I just had the wrong callipers to start with or something. I will research if there is a way to do a reverse look-up from the caliper numbers. I am about to head up to the shop after I mount the 44's on the h1s, so we may have it on the rubber this afternoon, if so, I will pick it up and bring it home tonite or tomorrow to finish it up.

All the calipers GM used on their D60's from 77 to 91 are exactly the same. They are even the same as the ones that came on 2wd 1 tons of the same vintage. Do your front hoses have a big square block on the caliper end that is interfering with the two little nubbies that stick up next to the banjo bolt hole? Thats the only possible explanation for the trouble you are having that I can wrap my mind around.

sharpe.. I have round hose ends with little square nubs off of the side of it. The ones off of the green 60 will work I believe. The dimensions of the ones they were giving me were about 1/4" smaller width wise wich was causing the interference with the rotor.

John.. Thanks, I am gonna stop by and get a set at our little parts store on my way to the shop.

If I didn't tell yall in clayton what the problem was with the calipers, it was that they had the caliper mounts on the wrong sides, once we got that fixed it all went together pretty well. The only thing left on the axles is new longer brakelines and the tie rod has to be retapped on one end (ord sent it about 2 inches too long).

What still needs to be completed when I get back.

    -brakelines
    -wire up electric fan
-get adapter for hydro clutch and mount up
    -finish crossmember and mount up
    -mount atlas cable shifter
-new cab and body mounts(we found the right rear bed mount completely missing when we pulled the rear bumper off )

I am debating on the pane issue again, as the throttle body that I picked up wont work on my intake (the two big butterflys hit the edge of the intake). I may go with a new set, or just wheel it like it is for now, but the fuel tank that is on it needs major repair before too long. I figure it is a wash on the work that will be needed either way.
