Well, that reminded me to start looking at tanks. I found some cool options that I would probably get if I did more of that type of hauling.

But at $900 - $1200 ($15/gal - $25/gal) for a 120+lbs. of bulky tank that I really don't want in my bed every day anyway, I think four or five of these are more likely.

At less than $8 a piece, that's only $1.30/gal. It's the Flemingstein way. Plus, in that dashing yellow, it will match superbly. With those and a longer peice of line for Nick to better jack off the tank with ....I should be fine.

A buddy of mine had an L tank in his F-250 Crew cab w/ an electric pump. It was a 105 gal tank. With that tank full and the stock tank full we drove all the way to Orlando, all around Orlando, up to Daytona (another hour and half) back to Orlando, back to Daytona, back to Orlando and then back to Texas. We stopped for fuel right outside Tallahasse, FL. I think we got over 1600 miles out of both tanks. We filled it b/c 1. we didn't know what fuel prices would be out that way, 2. we were driving straight through the night. We did have to stop and transfer fuel into the tank. We were driving around 85-90 the whole way, you know how it gets on I-10 sometimes, 85mph sometimes just keeps up w/ the flow.
Another thing, You could feel that fuel back there even in that big truck. 105 galsX 8._ _ (don't know what diesel lbs/gal) That's a lot of weight! especially when you slammed on the brakes and it began to slosh.
I agree, I wouldn't get one unless I had a ranch/farm or construction equipment to fill. It's not worth it. Just by two NATO cans and a spout, No leaks and spills, last forever and are an excellent design. $12-20 each plus $10 for the spout

this is a good write-up thread...

I have my notes from the trip still in my laptop bag - and I keep on saying that I was going to type out my version of the trip. I might still do it, maybe tomorrow, I have it day by day right next to me...
