Hmm, How about we go hit up Holy Cross Trail & ghost town - near Leadville.

I'll check with Ben to see if it would be accessible this time of year.
    Thanks,

Holy Cross is actually a decent trail so I have heard...I actually think that was one Ben & I were going to do one year, but we ended up not making it for some reason (I can't remember whether it was snowed in or a time issue).
    Thanks,

I don't think the upper part of Holy Cross trail gets busted out until later. How far is that from where we're gonna be?

    From Ben:

Holy Cross is by far one of my favorite trails so I would love to do it BUT it usually doesn't become very passable until July. It is open so we can go now bash it but will make very slow progress and not get very far. On June 7th last year people were bashing it and had made it half way to French Creek which is one of the main obstacles. We could head over there and check it out and see how far we get. The first part of the trail is very scenic, the second part is very technical, French Creek is very very difficult and above that Tippy Tree is very, well, Tippy and scary and then up above the city Cleveland Rock is rated some of the hardest wheeling in Colorado. I can guarantee you we won't make it to the city or above the city to Cleveland Rock and the lake above that but it is possible we could make it just short of French Creek depending on how many people have been snow bashing it and how hot it gets between now and then (currently has been pretty warm and melting but certainly not enough).

Anyways, the guys with big meats will enjoy the challenge of snow bashing it I'm sure. McCalister Gulch and Wearyman creek are also fun trails nearby there. Last year I was out there July 4th and had water way above my 35" tires through 8 creek corssings on the Wearyman creek trail. It was insane. My buddy following me on 33's got a little wet inside and water came over his hook but he made it out. Fun trail as well but may also be fairly snowed in in June still.

I normally do all of these trails at least once a year.

As for ghost towns, Holy Cross City and the old mine are very neat but will not be accessible. They will be completely under snow still and not even accessible on foot yet. For Ghost towns there are some up tin cup pass thought that we can check out hat will be open.

Trails I would suggest for the group are Carnage, Chinamans, Iron Chest, Grizzly, Polmeroy lakes, etc. Wheeler will be snowed in but they can snow bash there and have fun if they want. The tops of Grizzly and Polmeroy and Iron Chest will also be snowed in but they might actually be able to bash through to the tops of those if they are determined enough. They could also be conqured this weekend depending on the snow falls up there

If the guys want another big challenge I would recommend Minesweeper (very difficult), Trough trail (Also very difficult, along the lines of carnage -my buddy on 40's flipped his rig here), etc. Twin Cone is another Scenic trail up there and nearby but would probably bore everyone to tears. Red Cone is my favorite trail but will also be snowed in completely then.

You getting excited? I was up in the mountains today at a buddys cabin and it felt good to get up there again! Rained the whole time but was still fun.
    Thanks,
    Chris Scotti
