How much more money or work would a 4.0 be?
6.0l Lq4!
On the 8th day god created the Super Swamper TSL and said "go forth and kick ass"
a 5.3 would be another good one. Then paint the rollbar pink!

Guys...
Since my Dad is loaning the money and a car he really gets the say on where the money goes. He is leaning towards the $1100 rebuild. We agreed that the 4.56 gears would help take strain off the break in process and so I am going to try and pay for the D44 to be built while he loans me the money for the engine. He specifically said no engine swaps if I want his help. So if I want a V-8 or 4.0 I would have to do it myself.
Third time I have stated it.
People usually spend about $1200 to do a 4.0 swap I would consider it but don't have the money or cash. If I did, I would just save up and do a Gen 3/4 Chevy.
I work 20-30 hours a week and am taking 12 hours, its just not happening.
I stated in my original post that if I did an engine swap it would be a LH6 or L33 (Gen 4 aluminum 5.3Ls). The only V-8s I would even consider swapping in would be Gen 3/4 Chevy V-8s.

SHUT UP AND WHEEL
also, I disagree with your logic...if he's loaning you the money then you should be able to spend it as you see fit (i.e. not throw it away rebuilding the 2.5), if he's giving you the money he can throw it away as he sees fit. Or just take him out of the equation altogether and drop it off at Lance's with a credit card...
This is softcore Jeep build
Not Pirate hardcore build, or Im going to take 8 years to graduate or have my parents pay for a crazy rig build.
I wish I could, but I can't.
My Credit-card does not have that high of a limit. I need a running car by next week anyways. If I was going to put myself in debt I would have already done it with my RX-7. Everything I have done has been in hard earned cash. I will take driving a gay Jeep with no balls and not being in debt.
My Dad has already loaned me money for a transmission rebuild, and the first motor on the RX-7. He's a pretty old fashion guy and I respect that. He does not have to help me at all if he dosent want to, so if he chooses to help me than the only way its going to happen is his way.
