Redneck Millionaire- Sunday
So....
After the TCC X trip it sat until July when I took it down to DownSouth. Drove around for about 30 min. and felt the transmission slipping, happened to look under the Jeep and saw the skidplate full of atf. Further inspection revealed the tailhousing had cracked completely around the governor cover.
Well I finally got around to ordering a new transmission for it back in October. After looking at TCI, Hughes, etc. I ended up calling Jimmy's 4x4 after reading about them on Pirate. Jimmy's son, Randy, walked me through what parts would be good for my setup and how they build their transmissions to the customer's spec'd drum, pump, clutches, shafts, etc. rather than a stock trans with a "performance" valvebody (which is what some of the above mentioned manufacturers offer when it comes to 4wd stuff).
Specs I chose- HD Intermediate drum with Sprag and HD outer Race, large low roller clutch/Center support (700r4) w/ Retention Plate, v8 core (5 Friction FWD & Direct Drums). Transgo shift kit, Full Manual Reverse Valvebody, Anti Ballooning Plate, AN fittings at the cooler and transmission vent drilled for 1/4" barb.
I also added a Winters gated cable shifter to the order since the B&M streetrod shifter had become an issue due to a certain individual (I'll spare the name of the guilty party...haha) yanking on the shifter thinking it was a manual or so they claimed.
Pretty sweet method to shipping it standard residential....weighed in at 145 lbs.
When you say its own mount what does that mean? That is the same area my 3 TH400s broke at before I added the foot mount off the side. I assume this will be ready for Clayton?
On the 8th day god created the Super Swamper TSL and said "go forth and kick ass"
that shifter sucked - but your brakes sucked worse. Hopefully the new tranny / torque converter will help it from pulling thru the brakes. That shifter doesn't like to shift when its all torqued up. Did you ever upgrade your brakes?

The office sucks - I wanna go wheeling!
My brakes kick ass, your just a nancy that can't push the pedal hard enough....
You really do have to put the pedal down solid to hold in 4 low since going to 5.13's in the axles, but it holds great. No hydroboost needed, just a big wilwood manual master. Guess I'm used to it.
Are you talking about the old shifter or new one? On the old one you have to push down on it to change gears. If your talking about the new one, that sounds like it would be an issue with the transmission since the shifter is just moving the gear selector lever on the side of the case.
When I originally did the hydro assist back in '07-08 I tried to take the cheaper route by going with a Rockstomper ram, tapping the stock S-10 box, and doing the hp spring mod on the saginaw pump. It worked ok for a short time.
Then I replaced the s-10 box with a PSC unit, later the saginaw with a fancy PSC pump, and went with a bigger cooler. In Clayton 2010, the ram mount ripped off the tie rod and found the ram to be leaking since. Rockstomper is no longer in business as far as I have found.
Ordered the PSC ram on monday and it came in today, now have full PSC steering.
