i was more asking if you were also looking for a d44 as a replacement also or just a d30? but with 33's i wouldn't go bigger than a d44, i would think that a d44 would open up more options for you in the future as you can run 35's or even 37's if you are gentle on one

I was trying to make the point that a d-44 can handle a lot more than people give it credit for. While I was poking fun at the people that run 40"+ on d-44s I feel that they can quite easily (with some mods) handle 37-38"s all day. With a huge reduction of weight and increase of ground clearance versus a d-60. I would NEVER put a d-60 in my CJ. A built d-44 or 609 is a different story however!
Back to Adams jeep, this thread is called a 'softcore' build so I would be surprised at anything more than a d-30. For his desires and driving style I think this d-30 'upgrade' is the best solution for his problem. Let's see some pics of progress Adam!
Would I be open to a D44? Yes. But, a front TJ D44 (Rubicon) isn't worth the money. I already have a rear TJ D44, so I don't want to have to deal with different widths, bolt patterns, etc.
I'm not looking to go any bigger than 33"s for a while. I have too many other projects, and I would like to buy a DD before I put another significant investment into my Jeep.
Yes, what gears/differential does it have?

Thanks, but I sourced an HP30 locally.
SHUT UP AND WHEEL
I've done a few things in the last few months...
Axles:
HPD30 swap:
- Reinforced lower control arm brackets
- Lower Conrol arm skid plates
- thicker factory style diff cover
- Currie upper control arm Johnny joint conversion
- 4.88s
- ARB
Rear TJ D44 Swap
- 4.88s
- ARB
- Solid Diff Cover
- Reinforced control arm brackets
- Currie lower control arm skids
*All new bearings, ball joints, etc.
Also installed an SYE, shaft, and an aluminum "Undercover fab Ultra High Clearance transfer case skid". Which gained something around 3.5" of clearance under the belly.
Suspension and Steering:
- All 8 Currie dual johnny joint control arms
- Front/Rear adjustable Currie track bars
- Currie HD steering
- Rancho steering stabilizer
- extended brake lines
- OME nitrocharger sport shocks (something like 11.5" of travel)
So I've came a little ways. I still need to set my pinion angle and get an alignment, along with install the compressor and switches for the ARBs.
Hopefully I can make the first trip out this fall.
I threw a rod 10k miles ago and installed a new long block. Rebuilt my t-case, and my transmission has about 20k on it. So aside from the destroyed interior and rough exterior, she will be like a new rig.

SHUT UP AND WHEEL
sounds awesome

So I've been distracted and never quite got the Jeep back together. Purchased a house, and have been traveling quite a bit for work.
I've been itching to buy a new vehicle, but wanted to get the Jeep back to DD status and enjoy the lack of a car payment for a few more months. This is my opportunity to get the Jeep to where I have always wanted it.
As she sits right now:
I've added a Currie Anti-Rock, new rear sway bar endlinks, and installed all of the things I mentioned in my previous post. (D44/HP30, Currie suspension, Aluminum "tummy-tuck", etc.)
The OME shocks I were not quite what I wanted, so I dropped the Jeep at Junior's where he welded in some new shock mounts...
Used a TNT customs kit to outboard the rear shocks through the frame:
In the front we extended the front shock towers with some old F-250 towers:
I wanted a 12" travel shock that was valved for a TJ... My options were pretty limited so I ended up with some remote reservoir fox shocks... Pretty sexy if you ask me.
SHUT UP AND WHEEL
I've been chipping away at some basic stuff. Replacing power steering lines, etc.
Looking to order some suspension seats as my factory seats are very far gone. Any opinions on Corbeau JP?

Also, looking to jump on a winch. I can't decide if I should give into the propaganda and pick up a synthetic lined M8000, or maybe try one of the comparable (and much higher value) Superwinches? Open to any suggestions.
