The bedsides on the F150 are pretty deep. It will be difficult to open and access items in the toolbox with a setup like you describe, without being in the bed. Something as simple and cheap as an ActionPacker with a bike lock might work pretty well. If you are super worried about a bike cable lock being cut, you live on the wrong side of town
